||ADDICTUS-PHILIPPINES INC., a non-government organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on September 2000, and whose vision is to contribute to the attainment of drug-free, crime-free and disease-free communities in the Philippines, has been in the forefront of discovering and designing drug prevention programs that work at the grassroots level.
Since 2000, the organization has engaged in prevention research, capacity building, program implementation, networking at the local, national and international levels and has contributed greatly in policy-making and programming in the drug abuse field in the Philippines and in the Asia-Pacific Region.
The activities of ADDICTUS under the Global Initiative
The organisation provides and organises: ethnographic and epidemiological research on drug abuse, capacity building and training, policy and media advocacy, and, community based drug abuse prevention.
Addictus will work in two barangays to build on the psychosocial and survival skills of children, to increase self-esteem and the capacity to make healthy life decisions. Project activities will include community youth development sessions and youth selected activities including art, singing, writing and photography. Youth will have the opportunity to demonstrate their talents through forums such as art exhibits and concerts.
