Starting in September 2006, AEHRO has led an advocacy movement to promote the implementation of the UNCAC in Egypt, starting with ensuring that the government officially issues the convention in Arabic by printing it in the official journal. Working with a group of NGOs, AEHRO participated in the 2007 Bali Convention, and led an initiative of issuing the 2007 Egyptian Civil Society’s report on the UNCAC implementation process. Since then, AEHRO has led a movement (“Egyptians Against Corruption”) which has collected more than 10,000 signatories on a petition that urges the Egyptian government to implement the UNCAC more pro-actively.
