||Tearfund is a Christian relief and development charity. We work with partner organisations in over 35 developing countries, including organisations that focus on issues of governance and corruption. Tearfund believes that the implemention of UNCAC, and the establishment of an effective review mechanism, is essential in the fight against global poverty. Our work in Africa, Asia and Latin America has demonstrated that it is the poorest and most vulnerable people in society who suffer most from corruption. Tearfund is working to ensure a strong Anti-bribery Bill is passed by the UK parliament and is an active member of the civil society UNCAC coalition.
We take a comprehensive approach to releasing people from poverty, working through a network of local church partners to bring about truly sustainable change.
With our church-based partners around the world, we're focusing on five broad issues: defeating disease, preparing for and responding to disasters, campaigning for economic justice and enabling fair trade, working for a sustainable environment and providing basic services.
We don't make distinctions - we give aid where it's needed, not on the basis of race, creed, nationality or gender. Our aim is to tackle poverty with justice and compassion; to empower poor people and restore communities.
