Short description:
The Educators Association for Human Rights Trust (EAHR) is a Manicaland (Mutare) based Human Rights organization specialized in educating teachers, youth and the general community in the issues of human rights, social justice and participatory democracy. The NGO was founded in 2007 as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO) as a result of a group of teachers in Manicaland whom braved the hostile political environment to become proactive in the struggle for good governance and anti-corruption advocacy campaigns in Zimbabwe. In 2009, EAHR was registered as a Trust and currently the organization is operating in Manicaland Province with intentions of expanding to other regions in and outside Zimbabwe. The organization is specialized in empowering teachers and youth with information on human rights and skills of facilitating Human Rights Education to the youths and the community where the teachers operate. EAHR has organized workshops for teachers as human rights defenders in conjunction with many other organizations such as: the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights ZLHR and Human Rights and Christian Social Teachings in collaboration with the Catholic Commission and Justice and Peace (CCJP- Manicaland).
