The Latin American Council of Social Sciences is an international, non-governmental organization which was found in 1967 and which holds a consultative status with UNESCO.
At present it maintains 259 centres for research and education in social sciences in 25 countries of the Latin American and Carribean region, the U.S.A. and Europe.
The main objectives of CLASCO are the promotion and the development of research and education in the field of social sciences, the reinforcement of exchange and cooperation within institutions and other research facilities within and outside the region and the adequate disemination of social sciences knowledge between social movements and Civil Society organisations.
