Availability of reliable data on drug cultivation, trafficking as well as the extent, patterns and consequences of drug abuse in Nigeria limits the ability to assess the drug situation, planning, programme development and advocacy. Systematic and regular collection of data and statistics, its analysis, management and dissemination is urgently needed. Adequate and appropriate research and studies in drug-related issues should receive a high priority.
