Loyola Jesuit College Emerges Winner of Students Anti-Corruption Debate Tournament
On 14 and 15 November, students from 8 Secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja converged for a head to head debate tournament organised by the Inter Agency Task Team (IATT) on anti- corruption, UNODC and UNDP. The students debated on topics ranging from the effects of technology on corruption to the need for asset declaration. Students from Regina Pacis School, Great Heights School, Capital Science Academy, Turkish International, Loyola Jesuit College, F.G.G.C Bwari, Model Secondary School and G.S.S Nyanya participated in the debate tournament knockout sessions. At the end of the debate knockout sessions , Loyola Jesuit College and Capital Science Academy emerged as the semi-finalists of the competition. The debate finals took place on 9 December, at a grand finale event commemorating the International Anti- Corruption Day. Opposing the motion that "the private business man should declare his assets", Loyola Jesuit College won the 2011 anti-corruption debate tournament.
