Objectives

Drug Control Objectives in Nigeria of the Integrated Drug Control Priority Programme: The National Drug Control Master Plan Objective and Immediate Integrated Drug Control Priority Programme Objective for Nigeria are as follows:

National Drug Control Master Plan Objective

To progressively reduce the drug problem in Nigeria through joint national, sub-regional and inter-regional activities, as well as continue to align national policies and strategies to the international treaties and conventions to which Nigeria is a signatory.

 

Immediate Integrated Drug Control Priority Programme Objective

To build the capacity and enlist the full participation of government agencies, the NGOs and other civil society organizations in drug control activities, such as: a) prevention and reduction of drug abuse, b) national law enforcement and control measures, c) policy support, legislation development and advocacy, and d) data collection, research and networking.

 

The integrated priority programme is composed of the following four components with distinct objectives targeting each of the drug control areas:

Each of the programme components above will be implemented through a number of projects and contribute towards the achievement of the immediate integrated drug control objective by the end of 2005.
