INTER- AGENCY ANTI-CORRUPTION TASK TEAM, NATIONAL LABOUR CONGRESS AND UNODC CONVENE ROUNDTABLE ON ETHICAL CONDUCT OF BUSINESS

On 20 - 21 September, members of the Inter-Agency Anti-Corruption Task Team, National Labour Congress (NLC) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) convened a Roundtable on Ethical Conduct of Business labelled " The Role of Labour in the Fight against Corruption".

The two day event is aimed at creating greater awareness and support for the 7 anti-corruption business principles that were developed by a group of business associations and public sector agencies with the support of UNODC, UNIDO and the government of The Netherlands. In December 2009, the principles were endorsed by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, the United Nations Global Compact, the Institute of Directors and Business Action against Corruption.

The roundtable discussion created a forum for Labour to make inputs to the first ever national anti-corruption strategy that is being developed by the Inter - Agency Task Team (IATT) composed of 20 anti- corruption agencies in Nigeria.  As such, Labour utilised the event to formulate its demands to government and business leaders in the fight against corruption.
