3rd Provincial Threat Assessment Training for Counter Terrorism Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

21 December 2018, Bhurban. UNDOC, in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), and the European Union (EU), organized the 3 rd Provincial Threat Assessment Training Workshop for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on 20-21 December 2018 at the Pearl Continental, Bhurban. The workshop brought together 30 participants from CTD KP and NACTA.

The first day began with inaugural speeches by Mr. Syed Arslan, Advisor Pakistan's Action to Counter Terrorism (PACT), UNODC; and Mr. Shahzada Sultan, Director General Counter Terrorism (CT), NACTA. They welcomed the participants; and highlighted the commitment of their respective organizations towards capacity building of the Police for proactively countering terrorism. The series of these workshops was described by the speakers as an important step in this direction.

The 2-day workshop was fully utilized by the UNODC consultants and facilitators for enhancing the participants' understanding of terrorism related subjects such as Threat Assessment/Analysis, Terrorist Group Profiling, Information Gathering Sources, Terror Financing Investigation, and Financial Risks. Participants were in addition briefed on Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF) Policy by Mr. Muhammad Iqbal, Director General CTF, NACTA.

To practice the theoretical knowledge gained, participants were put through a group profiling exercise, and two e-learning modules on financial investigation and net worth analysis.

On completion of the course, the participants were awarded with Certificates; and expressed their appreciation for the organization of the training series to UNODC, NACTA, and the European Union.
