Say NO to Corruption Campaign Kicked Off in Islamabad

02 March 2015, Islamabad-  UNODC supported the National Anti-Corruption Campaign by handing over three hundred (300) standees to the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) awareness and Prevention Wing. The standees, bearing several anti-corruption messages and slogans are being displayed in high traffic areas such as international airports, police stations and government agencies. The Say NO Campaign integrates a national theme coupled with the UN Global anti-corruption message.  In Pakistan it is designed as an ongoing effort by the NAB and UNODC to raise awareness against corruption and encourage prevention.

The UNODC Representative, Mr. Cesar Guedes stated that "Awareness & Prevention is a key element in eradicating the scourge of corruption as it targets the masses". The Director General on Awareness & Prevention, Ms. Aliya Rashid appreciated UNODC's efforts and continued partnership with NAB and stated that "These efforts from UNODC will immensely help NAB in combating corruption in Pakistan"

Corruption undermines development and hampers progress in developing countries and in Pakistan corruption has been recognized as a barrier to development. In an effort to combat corruption Pakistan signed the UNCAC convention on 09th December 2003 and ratified it on

31st August 2007.

This partnership between the NAB and UNODC demonstrates the importance that the agencies share to raise the awareness of the general public about the harm of corruption. UNODC COPAK under its Country Programme 2010-2015 continues to demonstrate its support to National Anti-corruption Agencies under Outcome 7 of its Criminal Justice Sub-Programme.
