Say NO to #Corruption @International Anti- Corruption Day

Islamabad, 9 December 2015. Pakistan observed International Anti-Corruption Day with a ceremony organized by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at President House. The ceremony comprised participants from different spheres of professional life; including dignitaries from the government, members of civil society, the international Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the judiciary, and the media. 

The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Mamnoon Hussain, presided and hosted the event, with the launch of a  cartoon book "Gogi Says No to #Corruption" on anti-corruption by the cartoonist and author Ms. Nigar Nazar - The book addresses the issue of corruption in #‎Pakistan and teaches families to deal with the menace at the grass root level.

During the ceremony Mr. Cesar Guedes, Country Representative UNODC (among other speakers) delivered a speech on the importance of combating the scourge of corruption; and affirmed the importance of adopting and implementing the United Nations Convention against Corruption in its true spirit. Mr. Guedes then read the statement of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon. In his comments, Mr. Guedes emphasized the Secretary General's call for united efforts to combat corruption and embrace the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance. 

Additional activities included the branding of anti-corruption messages on banners and streamers displayed in various locations of the city, likewise carried out in collaboration with NAB. 

UNODC COPAK also launched a National Selfie Campaign, to further spread the anti-corruption   message across Pakistan through social media including facebook, twitter, whatsapp, and other social networks.
