&lt;p&gt;16 March 2012, Vienna, Austria: &#034;Think ahead, act in longer terms, and let us not fail&#034;. These were a few of the messages presented by the Youth Initiative during the 55 
&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; Commission on Narcotic Drugs, held in Vienna, Austria, from 12 to 16 March.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Gathered since Monday 12, the 20 young persons from 7 different countries which included Pakistan as well, and from the Vienna International School had the opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences,&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;8 January 2011 - Pakistan cricket star Shahid Afridi has been appointed UNODC National Goodwill Ambassador in recognition of his outstanding sporting record.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Both batsman and bowler, Afridi is a talented all-rounder who from 2009 to 2011 was captain of the Pakistan national cricket team in various formats of the modern game.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;18 August 2011, Nowshera - Today, UNODC handed over furniture and IT equipment to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to improve their capacity after the damage caused by the devastating floods in 2010 at a ceremony at the Police Lines Nowshera.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The equipment was purchased with the financial support of the Government of Canada. This equipment complements UNODC&#039;s larger flood recovery programme, of which the Government of Canada is the main contributor.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;img class=&#034;aLeft&#034; src=&#034;http://www.unodc.org/images/pakistan/world%20drug%20day%202011/banner.jpg&#034; border=&#034;0&#034; hspace=&#034;1&#034; vspace=&#034;1&#034; /&gt;Marking World Drug Day on 26 June, UNODC in Pakistan launched a series of events aimed at raising awareness of the major problem that illicit drug use represents to society and particularly to young people. This year&#039;s theme was &#034;Global Action for Healthy Communities without Drugs&#034;, highlighting the role communities can play in addressing the drug challenge.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&#034;Prevention starts with a community that cares about the vulnerable and it involves families, teachers, youth leaders and mentors, among others. We must start to think globally and act locally to curb drug use and drug trafficking&#034;, said UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov in Vienna.&lt;/p&gt;

Attended by more than 69 participants from 30 countries and organizations, UNODC experts from Central Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Headquarters, the meeting resulted in consensual operational and concrete recommendations to enhance controlled deliveries and related frameworks. These recommendations will now be submitted for final approval by the Paris Pact Policy Consultative Group Meeting in Vienna later this year.&lt;/p&gt;

It was high-level event attended by all the key Government of Pakistan counterparts, including the Ministry of Narcotics Control, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Finance, the Financial Monitoring Unit, the Capital Administration and Development Division, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the  Economic Affairs Division.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Using a UNODC drug testing kit, the Pakistan Customs&#039; Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) seized 4kg of methamphetamine worth millions of rupees from a Malaysian citizen&#039;s suitcase at the Karachi Airport in April 2011.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The officer, who carried out the seizure, was one of the trainees at a UNODC drugs identification course held earlier this year. He conducted a chemical test using the UNODC testing kit, which gave a positive for methamphetamine. The seized drug was later sent to the laboratory for further analysis.&lt;/p&gt;
