Regional Workshop on "Prevention Strategy and Policy Makers"
|...||From 1-3 July 2013, the UNODC Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean (ROPAN), in cooperation with the Centre of Excellence on Demand Reduction and Prison Reform in the Dominican Republic, facilitated the Regional Seminar "Prevention Strategy and Policy Makers" in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Representatives of National Drug Commissions, Ministries of Health and Ministries of Education from Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize and the Dominican Republic participated in the seminar.|
The aim of this Regional Seminar was to disseminate the new UNODC International Standards on Drug Use Prevention, as well as to support policy makers of the participating countries in planning national drug prevention systems.
The group of the speakers included Ms. Giovanna Campello and Ms. Hanna Heikkila from UNODC Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation Section, Vienna, Austria; Dr. Zili Sloboda, UNODC consultant with a deep knowledge on Drug Abuse Prevention; and Ms. Melva Ramírez from UNODC Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean (ROPAN).
This Regional Seminar also provided opportunities to share experiences on current national policies and best practices in drug use prevention.
