"Strong Families" Prevention Programme hosts Training Workshop in the Dominican Republic
From 18 to 22 February 2014 the First Facilitator's Workshop of the "Strong Families" Prevention Programme took place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This workshop provided training for 35 facilitators representing various government institutions and NGOs. "Strong Families" is a programme for the prevention of risk behaviours in adolescents, through the development of skills in parents and children. The process of implementation of the programme began in the Dominican Republic, under the UNODC project entitled "Prevention of drug abuse, HIV/AIDS and adolescent delinquency, through the development of family skills". The same will be implemented in coordination with the National Drug Council of the Dominican Republic. UNODC ROPAN is already implementing this project in Panama, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua, and this is the opportunity for expansion of the programme in the Caribbean region.
