Workshop on Criminal Intelligence as applied to Organized Crime 


From 22 to 26 July 2013 in San José, Costa Rica, the Santo Domingo Pact and SICA-UNODC Mechanism (SDP-SUM) Project, in collaboration with the United Nations Latin-American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (ILANUD), facilitated a workshop on "Criminal Intelligence as applied to Organized Crime". This activity is part of a regional initiative to strengthen the capacities of Member States' for analysis and intelligence. Similar training workshops have also been facilitated in Panama and El Salvador.

The overall objective of this workshop was to provide officers of Judicial Investigative Police (O.I.J. according to its acronym in Spanish) of Costa Rica with the methodological knowledge on information analysis so as to better address transnational organised crime in the country.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Pedro Cruz, Spanish National Police Officer expert on analysis, through contributions of the Government of Canada.
