Inauguration of IT Room in the "Bocas del Toro" Prison Centre
On 6 June 2014, the General Directorate of the Prison System of Panama, in collaboration with UNODC ROPAN, inaugurated an IT Room in the "Bocas del Toro Prison Centre", with the capacity to train up to 15 students simultaneously. This IT Room was carried out within the framework of the Project "Supporting Prison Reform in Panama".
The space is fully equipped with modern hardware and software, facilitating basic computer-skills training to prepare inmates for better social reintegration. The IT room was supported by several companies of Bocas del Toro. The courses will be conducted by facilitators of the National Institute of Professional Training for Human Development (INADEH, according to its acronym in Spanish), and classes will begin on 9 June 2014.
It is also noteworthy to mention that the physical and electrical conditioning carried out on the IT Room was performed by the same inmates housed in the prison.
