Regional Advisor of the United States Embassy in Panama meets with UNODC Project team for "Supporting Prison Reform in Panama".
On 8 April 2014, the performance of the Project "Supporting Prison Reform in Panama" in its second phase was evaluated by Mr. Michael Arellano, Regional Advisor from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State.
Mr. Arellano met with the UNODC's Project team, Prison System officers, as well as with the Director General of the Prison System of Panama. He also visited the Prison Training Academy, the recently inaugurated prison center "La Nueva Joya", and the Female Prison Center located in the city of Panama.
Mr. Arellano recognized the achievements made in the framework of the Project, highlighting the progress of prison reform in Panama. He also identified several good practices to share at the regional level.
