The Project of Consolidation of the Criminal Procedure Reform in Panama and Judicial Authority of Panama Carry out Workshops on the Adversarial Criminal System

The project of Consolidation of the Criminal Procedure Reform in Panama, of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean in Panama (UNODC ROPAN), in collaboration with the Office of Implementation of the Adversarial Criminal System, of the Judicial Authority of Panama, conducted workshops on SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities y Threats), on the Adversarial Criminal System training, also relating to the Rules of the Office of Legal Assistance for Victims of Crimes. This activity was celebrate at the Tryp Hotel, from 11 to 13 January 2016.

On these workshops, magistrates, judges, public defenders and defenders of victims participated, whom with their experiences in the Judicial Authority and the Adversarial Criminal System, made valuable contributions to get a SWOT analysis, in order to establish a training on the Adversarial Criminal System Plan, which allows other authorities of the system to be involved.

In this order, the team also worked on the Rules of the Office of Legal Assistance for Victims of Crimes to meet the demands of the Adversarial Criminal System on the proposal to this normative, as a result of which input was received. This information will permit to improve the proposal of procedure rules that must be validate by the Judicial Authority of Panama.
