Regional Representative

 

Mr. Colhoun was appointed a Representative of the Country Office in Afghanistan on 1 April 2018 bringing to the post extensive and relevant substantive and managerial experience in developing, negotiating, implementing and monitoring UNODC technical assistance programmes, as well as in building and maintaining close partnerships with relevant stakeholders in government, the private sector and civil society organizations.

 He started his career with the United Nations in 1997 as Advisor to the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) and then worked as Senior Advisor (Law Enforcement) in the UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia in Tashkent, Uzbekistan before he moved to Kabul. Since 2014, he has been serving as Senior Law Enforcement Advisor and as Deputy to the UNODC Representative in the Country Office in Afghanistan, and was also responsible for managing the overall implementation of the Country Programme for Afghanistan.

 Prior to joining the United Nations, he worked for 17 years with the South African Police in counter narcotics law enforcement.

Mr. Colhoun is a South African national and holds a Master's Degree in Security Studies from London Metropolitan University.
