Birgunj, Nepal: Low Cost Community-Based Care and Support Health Camp

November 22, 2012 - December 6, 2012

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in collaboration with Youth Vision is organizing a low cost community-based care and support health camp for drug users in Birgunj. With approximately 2000 injecting drug users, drug use is a major problem in this district and there is a huge demand for drug treatment services. This health camp is the first of the six camps to be conducted for drug users in Nepal.

Low cost community-based care and support draws on locally available resources and community members to provide services to drug users within the community. This approach is particularly useful when drug users are located in remote settings, far away from any institution-based drug treatment.
