Launch of Report on "Female Drug Users and Female Regular Sex Partners of Male Drug Users in Bangladesh"

On the occasion of the International Day for the Prevention of Violence against Women on 25th November, the report titled "Female Drug Users and Female Regular Sex Partners of Male Drug Users in Bangladesh" will be launched in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The report is the outcome of a RSRA (Rapid Situation and Response Assessment) undertaken by UNODC in collaboration with the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research (ICDDR), Bangladesh. The study was part of the AusAID funded regional South Asian project "Prevention of Transmission of HIV among Drug Users in SAARC Countries", a joint initiative between UNODC, UNAIDS and WHO with the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), Ministry of Home Affairs and the National AIDS/STD Programme, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Bangladesh as Nodal Agencies.
The report will be released this morning as part of the programme 'Launching of UNAIDS agenda for Women, Girls and Gender Equality', to be held at the Shawkat Osman Auditorium in Dhaka. The Honourable State Minister, Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Government of Bangladesh will be the Chief Guest at the ceremony.
