Bangladesh: Law enforcement officials trained on HazMat ID 360 for chemical testing

Dhaka, Bangladesh/March 2018: UNODC and the World Customs Organization (WCO) have jointly developed the Container Control Programme (CCP) with the aim of assisting Governments in creating sustainable enforcement structures at sea ports, land ports and airports.

The programme seeks to minimize the risk of containers being exploited and used for illicit drug transnational organized crime.

Under this initiative, the CCP set up and provided equipments and resources to the Air Cargo Control Unit at the Dhaka Customs House, including the Hazmat ID 360 device.

Through an intensive workshop held in Dhaka, 12 officials from the Bangladesh Customs were trained to use and operate the state-of-the-art 'HazMat ID 360' device for chemical testing.

The HazMat ID 360 is a portable chemical identification system that provides fast and comprehensive in-field analysis of unknown solids, gels and liquids to emergency responders.
