BANGKOK (Thailand), 10 March 2009 - While some general progress has been made to improve the livelihood of women in our societies, new emerging challenges are undermining these achievements and new responses are required to guarantee dignity and protection to girls and women.
In occasion of the International Women's Day, the UN System has organized a seminar on Gender implications of the economic crisis in Asia-Pacific.
During the seminar Mr. Gary Lewis - UNODC Representative in East Asia and the Pacific - provided a gender-focused analysis on the findings of the latest UN.Gift Global Report on Trafficking in Persons and addressed men to take adequate responses.
