Expert discussion paper on transition from CCDUs

Bangkok (Thailand), 30 October 2015 - A recent discussion paper, written by experts from the South-east Asian region, has been released. It aims to stimulate discussion related to compulsory centres of drug users (CCDUs) and to build on previous consultations related to CCDUs. Specifically the paper:

"offers additional data and examples of country practices through formulating evidence-based recommendations to support the transition from CCDUs to a comprehensive system of voluntary community-based treatment and complementary health, harm reduction and social support services (referred to as "support services" in this paper). These are aligned with international guidelines and principles regarding drug dependence treatment, drug use, and human rights."
