FORTY-EIGHTH SESSION OF THE SUBCOMMISSION

Vienna, 25 to 28 November 2013

The 48th session of the  Subcommission on Illicit Drug Traffic and Related Matters in the Near and Middle East is scheduled to take place in Vienna, from 25 to 28 November 2013.

The 48 th session of the Subcommission will hold open discussions in three working groups, focusing on the methods and operations of organized criminal groups involved in drug trafficking, including West African drug trafficking networks that pose a threat to the region. They will also discuss trends in synthetic drugs, pharmaceutical preparations and psychotropic substances. In addition, delegates will deliberate on the implementation by Member States of the Political Declaration and Plan of Action on International Cooperation towards an Integrated and Balanced Strategy to Counter the World Drug Problem, which will be reviewed by the Commission on Narcotic Drugs at its 57 th session in 2014.
