UNODC in partnership with the Baku State University and with the support of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) organized an academic seminar for 28 experts and academics from Central Asia and Eastern Europe at the Law Faculty of Baku State University in Azerbaijan.
The aims of the seminar were to enhance the capacity of participating experts and academics, in particular from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, to deliver high-quality anti-corruption education in their respective institutions and to foster exchanges and collaboration between participants.
The participants discussed various methods of delivering effective anti-corruption education, including online tools and other interactive methods, and considered the challenges related to teaching on corruption in Central Asia and Eastern Europe and how to overcome them. The participants learned about the education materials developed by UNODC under the ACAD and E4J initiatives, in particular the E4J university module series on Integrity and Ethics and Anti-Corruption as well as the UNCAC Model Course. The event also served to showcase the new short documentary " The Struggle against Corruption" produced by UNODC under the Global Programme for the Implementation of the Doha Declaration.
The event was a follow-up to the ACAD Symposium and ACAD Workshop, held in MGIMO in October 2015 and October 2017, respectively and was supported by Baku State University through its hosting of the event and the Russian Federation by way of a voluntary financial contribution.
