25 - 27 April 2017, Moscow, Russian Federation
In an effort to prepare and support the States Parties that are being reviewed during the second year (2017-2018) of the Implementation Review Mechanism’s second cycle, UNODC and the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) of the Russian Federation jointly organised a training in Moscow from 25 to 27 April 2017.
Thirty-three participants, including focal points from 22 States Parties, actively participated in the two and a half day training on the premises of the PGO in Moscow. The training included an introduction to the Mechanism for the Review of Implementation of the Convention, a detailed presentation of the two Chapters that are under review (Chapter II on Preventive measures and Chapter V on Asset recovery) as well as a simulated country review. A hands-on presentation of the Omnibus software was also provided.
The feedback from the participants was positive and the training deemed very worthwhile and instructive. This is the first time such a training has been organised by the secretariat before the year of the review has begun (scheduled to start in June 2017). It was noted by several participants that the wide stakeholder consultations and inclusion required to review Chapter II and the technical complexity of Chapter V called for an early start, the reason why the early date of the training was particularly appreciated.
