Thematic Evaluations

Thematic evaluations aim to identify lessons learned and best practices in international drug control and crime prevention from the information and knowledge generated by UNODC's world-wide portfolio of technical cooperation projects. Thematic evaluations focus on specific topics in the various thematic or geographical areas, or any other aspect of UNODC activities - at Headquarters and in the Field - irrespective of the source of funding. Their results are used both to improve the quality of UNODC's work and to share this knowledge with the international community. Independent evaluators make a major contribution to thematic evaluation. Reliance is also placed on other parties, including UNODC expert staff, in order to ensure that the leaning derived from thematic evaluations directly strengthens UNODC's technical competence.
