World AIDS Day in Indonesia 2011

In commemoration of World Aids Day, on December 1 st 2011, UNODC in collaboration with the National Aids Commission and Democratic Party of Indonesia organized  a advocacy campaign on the compound of the House of Representative in Indonesia. Referencing the international theme of "Getting to Zero: Zero new infections. Zero discrimination. Zero aids-related deaths," this one day campaign theme was "Understanding HIV from multi perspective."

The campaign kicked-off with a two hour talk show with perspectives from all sectors of society: a person living with HIV PLHIV shared the experience in accessing prevention, treatment, and care services, a member pf parliament talked about the role of parliamentarians in supporting the HIV/AIDS program in Indonesia, the Deputy Minister of Labor discussed  HIV policy and discrimination in the workplace and Dr. Nafsiah Mboi, Secretary of NAC, examined the national strategic action plan. This talk show effectively reached the public as it was covered by Parliamentary TV and repeated an additional three times for those who did not watch the show live.

The campaign continued with an exhibition put on by twenty organization and open to everyone in the House of Representative. UNODC Indonesia World Aids Day activities effectively brought awareness and fostered dialogue about HIV issues between parliamentarians and other key stakeholders in society.
