London launch of the UN Human Trafficking Small Grants Facility
On 8 March 2011 - International Women's Day - the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in its capacity as Manager of the Victims' Trust Fund, and the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Human Trafficking will be launching the 2011 Small Grants Facility (SGF) in London.
The SGF is intended to serve as a major avenue for the channelling of funds to the front-line organizations working on the ground to fight human trafficking and is a core component of the Trust Fund.
The launch, which will run from 8h30 for 9h00 until 12h45, will be in the form of a debate focussing on the global challenge of meeting the needs of victims of human trafficking, and will be held at Lancaster House in London.
Academy Award winning actress and UNODC Goodwill Ambassador Mira Sorvino will be speaking at the event, and she will be joined by grass-roots organizations, international policy makers, Government, and international organizations. Key points emerging from the discussion session will be compiled into a paper and shared with the Trust Fund's Board of Trustees to inform their work.
