The main objective of this meeting was to evaluate proposals submitted through the 2011 Small Grants Facility, and allocate grants to successful organizations.

Executive Summary

The Board of Trustees of the United Nation Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking had its inaugural Board Meeting from 1-3 February 2011 in Vienna. All five members of the Board were present, with the Fund Manager in ex-officio role.

A number of strategic and operational decisions were made, including: proposed amendments to the Terms of Reference; agreement on the substantive framework and structure that articulates the Trust Fund’s objectives; the establishment of the a Small Grants Facility for 2011, with two thematic priorities; a methodology for distribution of grants and the monitoring and evaluation of projects which receive funding.

The Board of Trustees also considered the approach it would take with regards to advocacy and fundraising issues for the Trust Fund

Finally, the Board of Trustees formulated and approved a preliminary operating budget for the year 2011.

The decisions made during the meeting were based on an estimated US $1,000,000 in contributions to the Fund in the first year of operations.
