L’Assemblée générale évalue les progrès de la lutte contre la traite des personnes

Hier, l'Assemblée générale des Nations Unies a tenu une Réunion de haut-niveau abordant la question tragique de la traite des personnes. Elle a été conduite par le Président de l'Assemblée Générale Vuk Jeremić, en présence du Secrétaire général, Ban Ki-moon. 85 États ont assisté à la réunion, ainsi que Mira Sorvino, Ambassadrice de bonne volonté de l'ONUDC pour la lutte contre la traite des personnes, et de nombreux représentants de la société civile.

Policy-makers put human trafficking on center stage today at a High Level Meeting of the General Assembly chaired by the President of the GA Vuk Jeremić and in the presence of the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The event was attended by 85 states, UNODC Goodwill Ambassador to Combat Trafficking in Persons, Mira Sorvino, as well as representatives from civil society.

Le Brésil est le dernier pays à rejoindre la campagne Cœur Bleu des Nations Unies contre la traite des êtres humains. La chanteuse Ivete Sangalo a été, à cette occasion, désignée comme ambassadrice de bonne volonté et représentante de la campagne. Des millions de personnes sont victimes de la traite des êtres humains à travers le monde. La campagne vise à mobiliser la société brésilienne contre ce crime.

Popular TV drama delivers human trafficking message in Colombia

In Colombia, the UNODC office has been working over the past two years with the TV production company CMO and the TV station Caracol to bring the often disturbing reality of human trafficking to life through a drama series. 'La Promesa', or 'The Promise' in English, is a series that reveals the plight of thousands of people in search that leads some of them to believe in the promises of acquaintances or even strangers.

Increase in global child trafficking gives cause for concern, says new UNODC report

The 2012 Global Report on Trafficking in Persons released by UNODC has revealed that 27 per cent of all victims of human trafficking officially detected globally between 2007 to 2010 are children, up 7 per cent from the period 2003 to 2006. Also worrying is the increase in the number of girl victims, who make up two thirds of all trafficked children. Girls now constitute 15 to 20 per cent of the total number of all detected victims, including adults, whereas boys comprise about 10 per cent

El Informe Mundial sobre la Trata de Personas 2012 publicado hoy por la Oficina de Naciones Unidas contra la Droga y el Delito (UNODC) revela que el 27 por ciento del total de víctimas de la trata de seres humanos detectado oficialmente a nivel mundial entre 2007 y 2010 son niños, un 7 por ciento más que en el período de 2003 a 2006. También es preocupante el aumento en el número de niñas víctimas, que suponen las dos terceras partes del total de niños víctimas de la trata.

Lao PDR's position at the hub of the Greater Mekong Subregion and its shared borders with Cambodia, China, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam make it "extremely vulnerable" to the trafficking of people, illicit drugs and commodities by transnational organized crime groups, warned UNODC's Executive Director: "While economic growth and regional integration bring many positives, they also provide opportunities for transnational organized crime to expand".
