Technical Consultation on Family Skills Training

In October we invited researchers, practitioners and programme managers altogether from 12 different countries to a Technical Consultation Meeting on Family Skills Training in Vienna. The participants worked hard for three full days to identify guidelines and principles for effective implementation of family skills training programmes to prevent substance abuse and to promote health among young people. We are planning to publish these guidelines early 2008 and we hope they will be helpful for policy makers and programme managers who want to implement evidence based programmes. Next year we are also planning to publish a list of evidence based family skills training programmes with descriptions to help people to choose a suitable programme for their situation.
