MADRID, Spain – June 2018: Findings of a project conducted by the Spanish non-governmental organization ABD (Asociación Bienestar y Desarrollo) providing international drug checking services show that fentanyl analogues such as furanylfentanyl, 4-fluorobutyrfentanyl and cyclopropyl fentanyl have been identified in 11 samples sold as heroin in cryptomarkets between June 2014 and April 2018. As reported by drug users who had submitted these samples for the study, heroin containing fentanyl analogues were acquired over cryptomarkets from vendors located in European countries such as Belgium and France.
