The Afghan Ministry of Interior burns 4 tons of drugs and precursors

30 August 2010 - On the drug burn ceremony held in Qasaba area, behind the Kabul International Airport on Monday, almost 4 tons of different drugs and precursors were burned.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has confiscated over 350 kg of heroin, 632 kg of opium, 328 kg of hashish and over 2,567 kg of precursors in the provinces of Kabul and Nangahar in the period February - July 2010. These actions have resulted in 225 criminal charges against 282 suspects.


UNODC is supporting counter-narcotics efforts of MoI through projects Support to the Counter-Narcotics Police of Afghanistan (J43) and Support to the Counter-Narcotics Training Academy (I77).
