Africa and the Middle East

Africa and the Middle East is historically the most important region for operational cooperation in the EU-UNODC portfolio, covering all thematic areas of UNODC’s work. Over 60% of projects (by value) target this region, of which approximately 50% focus on Africa. African and Middle Eastern countries are also key partners in many of UNODC’s global and trans-regional projects.
Launched in 2021, UNODC’s Strategic Vision for Africa for 2030 guides its cooperation with the African continent, aiming to provide more safety to Africa’s people, government and institutions from drugs, crime, corruption, terrorism and illicit financial flows.
