UNODC issued a report with recommendations for anti-corruption curriculum of the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan 

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Central Asia (UNODC ROCA) has published recommendations for anti-corruption curriculum of the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan.  

The report followed a week-long visit of Mr. Steven Sampson, Professor of Lund University, Sweden to the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office to teach anti-corruption course for the Academy’s graduate and post-graduate students, as well as consultations with staff, students and senior management of the Academy and UNODC.

Based on these consultations and analysis of various documents and anti-corruption training programs elsewhere, the report presents several possible curriculum options to develop anti-corruption training for Uzbek prosecution staff and officials. In particular, it describes basic questions and factors, which should be considered in organizing such a program, and offers recommendations as to course priorities and content. The purpose of the report is to help the Academy administration and other stakeholders to make informed choices as to what kind of program to have, the content of such a program, the target audience, and other issues to consider in developing anti-corruption curriculum of the Academy.

Since Uzbekistan is planning to establish a new anti-corruption agency it is essential to invest in compliance mechanisms, anti-corruption education for a wide range of government and civil society stakeholders. UNODC assists the efforts of the Government of Uzbekistan to combat corruption through capacity building activities for national institutions as well as expert advice with support from the Government of Sweden, within the framework of its 2015-2020 Program for Central Asia.
