UNODC enhanced the capacities of the Territorial Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Forced Labor of Fergana region in Uzbekistan

On 26-27 May 2022, UNODC jointly with the Sub-Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Winrock International conducted a Train of Trainer Seminar "Enhancing the Capacities of Local Actors in Countering Trafficking in Persons” (the ToT Seminar) in Fergana region.     

29 participants, namely members of the Territorial Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Forced Labor and regional practitioners including judges, prosecutors, internal affairs officers, specialists of other various governmental agencies and NGO representatives were brought together by the two-day training.

 

Members of the Territorial Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Forced Labor had a unique possibility to broaden their knowledge of, among other things, concepts of trafficking in persons, smuggling of migrants and sale of children, identification and referral of trafficking victims, evidence collection in domestic and international cases, and development of national and international partnerships.  

The training also incorporated cascading activities to increase the workshop’s impact. The participants discussed on spreading the obtained knowledge among their colleagues.  

Aimed at achieving consistent proficiency of relevant subject matter practitioners in all regions of Uzbekistan, the ToT seminars are implemented within the framework of the UNODC project financed by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
