24 January 2025, Lahore - A five-day training program on Forensic Evidence Management in Legal Proceedings for Prosecution Officers was successfully conducted at the Center for Professional Development (CPD), Lahore, from January 20 to 24, 2025. Funded by the U.S. Embassy’s Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) and implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the training aimed to strengthen prosecutorial outcomes by equipping officers with the skills necessary to manage and present forensic evidence in criminal trials effectively.
This training marked the first specialized program on forensic evidence management for prosecution officers, organized in collaboration with the Punjab Prosecution Department, Prosecutor General’s Office, and CPD. The program focused on enhancing participants' practical capabilities, delving into critical topics such as crime scene management, evidence collection, chain of custody protocols, and strategies for presenting forensic evidence in court to support robust case development.
Participants engaged in hands-on exercises and scenario-based discussions, fostering a deep understanding of how various types of forensic evidence—including biological, ballistic, digital, and trace evidence—can be utilized to build stronger cases. The sessions emphasized best practices for maintaining the integrity of evidence and enhancing collaboration between prosecution services and forensic experts. A visit to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) was an integral component of the program, offering participants a practical perspective on forensic processes and their application in real-world cases.
