24 February 2026, Dera Murad Jamali - The Government of Balochistan, with support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) under the European Union-funded Deliver Justice Project, continues to advance digital transformation across the prison system in Balochistan. In line with this, a three-day prison-wise on-the-job training on the Prison Management Information System (PMIS) was successfully conducted from 18 to 20 February 2026, at the District Prison Dera Murad Jamali.
Building on earlier prison-wise engagements across the province, the training followed a structured, hands-on methodology designed to strengthen operational ownership of PMIS at the facility level. Sessions were delivered directly at participants’ workstations, enabling real-time practice within their respective branches and reinforcing practical application of system functions.
Over the three days, participants worked through the complete PMIS workflow, beginning with system navigation, administration and setup, and admissions processes for under-trial prisoners, convicts, and other categories. The agenda also included deep-dive sessions on prisoner data handling, medical records entry, and common troubleshooting techniques, ensuring that staff can both operate and maintain the system effectively.
Subsequent sessions focused on circle office management, conviction, remission and appeal modules, and the prisoners’ check-in and checkout process. Participants further strengthened their understanding of visitor management, prisoner transfer workflows, and court production processes, highlighting common operational challenges and practical fixes throughout the training.

A key feature of the programme was its emphasis on sustainability and adherence to PMIS standard operating procedures (SOPs). Through guided discussions, recaps, and interactive Q&A sessions, participants developed a clearer understanding of how consistent system use supports accurate record-keeping, improved coordination, and timely decision-making within prison administration.
The training also promoted a cascading learning approach, encouraging participants to transfer knowledge within their units and support continued system adoption across the facility. As part of the broader Deliver Justice Project, these prison-wise trainings are contributing to a more transparent, efficient, and data-driven prison management ecosystem in Balochistan.
