Maldives: Defence Minister welcomes UNODC’s efforts in advancing cooperation on counter-terrorism 
UNODC’s Head of Programme Office in the Maldives, Mr. Enrico Boninsegna called on the Honourable Minister of Defence, Maldives, Ms. Mariya Didi to discuss ongoing cooperation on counter-terrorism and prevention of violent extremism, and ways to align initiatives in line with the country’s priorities and needs. The Minister welcomed UNODC’s efforts advancing cooperation on counter-terrorism, and extended support to the development of the UNODC’s new Regional Programme for  South Asia, currently under preparation. 
 
India: As ‘Integrity Guardians,’ rural educators, students champion education on peace and SDGs through UNODC’s GRACE Initiative
UNODC travelled to the Mirzamurad village--located about 40 kilometres outside Varanasi in India’s Uttar Pradesh state--in December to build capacities of rural educators and secondary-level students on SDGs, peace, crime prevention and integrity—using free-of-cost educational resources developed under UNODC’s GRACE Initiative. 
 
Bangladesh: Equipped with UNODC's field test kits, frontline drug law enforcement agencies receive capacity boost
UNODC’s Global SMART Programme provided 60 field test kits, for frontline law enforcement officers from the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), Police and Customs in Bangladesh. UNODC Regional Representative for South Asia, Mr. Marco Teixeira formally handed over the kits to Md Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, Director General of the DNC, at a ceremony held in Dhaka.
India: UNODC South Asia Consultation brings together regional experts to strengthen responses to wildlife crime
The UNODC Global Programme on Crimes that Affect the environment (GPCAE) held a South Asia Regional Consultation on Addressing Wildlife Crime in New Delhi, India. The Consultation brought together 43 criminal justice and law enforcement officials from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The consultation was held with support of the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

India: National Conference on Drug Law Enforcement calls for united responses to counter illicit trafficking and protect vulnerable groups
UNODC experts delivered presentations and provided technical support at the Second National Conference on Drug Law Enforcement, convened by the Central Academy of Police Training in Bhopal, India. The two-day Conference brought together nearly 80 senior and operational level officials from different law enforcement agencies, narcotics control, police, health and government departments from across India.
 
Bhutan: UNODC builds stakeholder capacities and strengthens public awareness to counter Trafficking in Persons     
A series of two-day trainings on preventing and countering Trafficking in Persons were organised in collaboration with the Department of Law and Order, Bhutan, for representatives from local government, frontline organisations, health workers and civil society in the Samtse, Mongar and Phuntsholing districts. Young people and educators in schools were also engaged through special awareness programs on preventing human trafficking.

Japan: UNODC, Ministry of Justice convene youth from 50 countries at the 2nd Global Youth Forum for a Culture of Lawfulness in Kyoto 
Building on the success of the Kyoto Youth Forum, organized prior to the UN Crime Congress, and building on the success of the first edition of the Global Youth Forum for a Culture of Lawfulness (CoL-YF) in 2021, the Ministry of Justice of Japan, in cooperation with UNODC, organized the second edition of the Global Youth Forum under the overarching theme of “The role of youth in achieving a diverse and inclusive society”.

Bangladesh: UNODC trains police officials on drugs, crime and HIV/AIDS with focus on vulnerable groups   
UNODC conducted the first ever five-day training on “Drugs, Crime and HIV/AIDS”, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Police Staff College. Attended by 25 inspectors from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the training was based on a manual, ‘Police Training Module on Drugs, Crime and HIV/AIDS,’ which was jointly developed by UNODC and Bangladesh Police. The training was opened by Mr. Marco Teixeira, Representative, UNODC Regional Office for South Asia.

Sri Lanka: UNODC conducts policy workshop on drug use prevention, treatment and care
UNODC organized a policy workshop with 45 senior officials in Sri Lanka, under the Regular Programme for Technical Cooperation (RPTC), to support development of comprehensive, balanced drug policy and strategy, as well as development of action plans with clear roles and responsibilities among stakeholders and partners. To this end, UNODC conducted a mapping exercise of relevant entities engaged in drug use prevention, treatment and care, whose results were presented in the workshop as a basis for discussion among national partners. The objective was to establish and strengthen truly effective, humane drug use prevention, treatment and sustained recovery interventions for those at risk of drug use and already affected by drug use and drug use disorders in community and criminal justice settings.
