UNODC conduz painel do 14º Encontro do Fórum Brasileiro de Segurança Pública sobre o case inovador de prevenção às violências de Pernambuco

Brasilia, 9 Dec 2020 - The UNODC Office in Brazil participated in the panel on "innovations in integrated governance of public policies to prevent violence: the case of Pernambuco", in which there was also a tribute to International Human Rights Day. The panel took place on the fourth day of the "14th Meeting of the Brazilian Public Security Forum (FBSP)".

The online meeting highlighted the impact of the pandemic on crime and public safety, the challenges in addressing domestic and sexual violence, working conditions and mental health of security professionals, racial inequality and violence, and the use of technologies in public safety.

The panel included the Secretary for Violence Prevention and Drug Policy of Pernambuco, Cloves Benevides,  the UN-HABITAT Programme Analyst, Daphne Besen, the UNODC Public Security, Criminal Justice and Compliance Specialist Eduardo Pazinato, the Igarapé Institute Programme Director Melina Risso, and the Coordinator of the Governance and Justice Unit of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Brazil, Moema Freire.
