||The Terre des hommes Foundation, founded in 1960 by Edmond Kaiser, is Switzerland's largest childrenss relief fund operating on an international basis and works independently of any political or confessional creed. Terre des hommes gives children in 30 different countries direct and unbureaucratic support concerning health, social problems and child rights.
Terre des hommes aims at achieving self-help, mainly through long-term projects which are managed by Terre des homme personnel until local partner organisations are able to take over. Collaboration with local partners and government institutions is the foundation of good and effective relief work.
In addition, Terre des hommes especially targets needy children and their mothers in emergency situations where urgent measures are required. Every year, the budget of approximately CHF 35 million allows Terre des hommes to give over 300,000 children and mothers all over the world the chance of a decent future. On average, about 80% is used directly for the more than 100 projects.
The Zewo Seal of Approval (Central Agency for Charities) guarantees that every franc donated will be put to proper use. Since 1999, Terre des hommes has been a member of the International Federation of Terres des hommes Organisations (IFTDH) and holder of Quality Certificate ISO 9001.
