||The International Harm Reduction Association (IHRA) promotes evidence-based harm reduction policies and practices on a global basis for all psychoactive substances (including illicit drugs, tobacco and alcohol). IHRA exists to reduce the negative impacts of drug and alcohol use for individuals, communities and society.
IHRA has a diverse and global membership base - including policy makers, people who use drugs, health professionals, police, educators, researchers, and communities throughout the world. IHRA supports the engagement of people and communities affected by drugs and alcohol, and works to promote the human rights of affected populations and counter their marginalisation and stigmatisation.
IHRA works with local, national, regional and international organisations on public health campaigns and advocacy work, knowledge exchange, network communication and the promotion of best practice. This includes (amongst other things) major annual international harm reduction conferences (www.ihraconferences.net), document collections and the 'Global State of Harm Reduction' reports.
