||Gender and Development Action (GADA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to gender equality and pursuit of sustainable development and social justice in Nigeria. Its work promotes greater understanding and proactive responses to gender and development issues through research, information documentation and dissemination, training, consultation dialogue, advocacy and mobilization.
GADA works with a number of local and international partners in its efforts to promote people-centered development in Nigeria. Our current partners include but are not limited to the DFID, European Union, Open Society Initiative for West Africa, Heinrich Boll Foundation, Centre for Democracy and Development, etc.
GADAs work on anti-corruption is implemented through our membership of coalitions such as the Transparency in Nigeria, Zero Corruption Coalition (ZCC), Freedom of Information Coalition, Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Nigeria, Nigeria Gender Budget Network and the Budget Transparency Network.
Its work in this area is driven by the knowledge that corruption fuels poverty and the effects of poverty are gendered. To this end, GADA has implemented a number of projects targeted at promoting budget transparency and citizens oversight on government expenditure, particularly in the oil rich Niger Delta region.
