Short description:
PILDAT engages in legislative capability-building and the strengthening of democracy and democratic institutions in Pakistan. PILDAT aims to provide quality non-partisan political research, political leadership development, avenues for a pluralistic and participatory citizen involvement in democratic decision-making, performance monitoring of democratic actors and institutions, and education in democracy and political management. Additionally, PIDAT monitors electoral processes, the performance of parliament and the ratification process of UNCAC in Pakistan. It also monitors the development and implementation and enforcement of national legislation on corruption, and the level of implementation of the UNCAC provisions. PILDAT holds briefings for parliamentarians on UNCAC and accountability laws, and publishes analytical legislative briefs on legislations under consideration by the Parliament. PILDAT has organized over 200 trainings and other events during the past 5 years and published more than 135 publications. PILDAT's Executive Director was one of the two delegates elected by BMENA delegates to represent them at the G-8 and BMENA Foreign Ministers meeting in New York in 2004.
