Short description:
Citizen association "Margina" is non-partisan, non-governmental and non-profit association, whose main goals are education, networking, exchange of information, publishing and work on improving the position of marginalized youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad, with a special focus on drug use, HIV/AIDS and STIs prevention.
The goals of the organisation are as follows:
To connect its members with other associations, organizations and foundations in the region, that have similar or same goals, by collaborating with Universities, Institutes, experts' association etc;
To organize by itself or together with other organizations meetings of experts, counselling, seminars, trainings, workshops and other forms of education and improvement;
To produce publications that will bring benefits regarding the accomplishment of the goals of the association;
Association Margina is the only NGO in Bosnia and Herzegovina who provides harm reduction services in prisons in BiH. Beside this, at the end of 2005, Margina established the Center for Education and Research related to the methodology of working with inaccesible elements of the population, based on harm reduction principles and practice. In 2006, Margina opened a field office in Tuzla, BiH with the aim of replicating the existing harm reduction services at the headquarters in Zenica. Within preparatory activities for GFATM application of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Margina set up the indicators for IDUs, sex workers and inmates.
One of the Margina's staff is an assistant professor at the University of Tuzla, on the subjects of: "Post treatment care" and "Social Pathology".
Margina's activities and services are an integral part of the formal education of students of the above-mentioned subjects.
