||The Crisis Center for Women has been providing help to trafficked women since 1998. It works against discrimination and violence, and aims to enhance public awareness in this sphere with a view to developing an equal gender relationship. It also pays special attention to comprehensive care for victims of sexual violence. Its long-term efforts to promote programs for male abusers were completed by creation of a male-oriented organisation (Men of XXI century) which deals with this problem in the city of St. Petersburg. It organised the first anti-trafficking campaign in the streets of St-Petersburg (2000), created Russia's first shelter for victims of trafficking (2000), and participated in lobbying for legislation against trafficking in 2000/02. Much work has been done on research and the training of specialists from state structures (doctors, police officers, social workers, psychologists) and NGOs throughout Russia and the former republics of Soviet Union, with special attention to educational training for law enforcement and public health structures.|
