||The Crisis Centre Secretariat was established in 1994, and is a member organization for thirty-five centers throughout Norway. The Secretariat works on social, political and professional platforms for women and children exposed to violence by men, and is a liaison center for the crisis centers, public authorities, women's organizations, research institutions, students and the community at large.
The Crisis Center Secretariat has as its goals the promotion of gender-specific interests, with its daily operation focused on procuring equality between the sexes, and in strengthening women's human rights nationally and internationally.
The Secretariat’s objectives and activities include: developing statistics, informational work, influencing legislation and law, media work, teaching, designing workshops/courses/conferences, networking, women’s gender-political work, competence building on sexual violence against women, caring for children in crisis centers, and international solidarity work.
Sexual violence against women creates hurdles toward reaching the goal of gender-equality, development and peace. Violence against women infringes upon and abolishes women's ability to practice basic human rights and fundamental freedoms.
